Volunteers visited a Fenland school armed with paint brushes to help staff give fences and play equipment a makeover ready for the new term.

Staff from Tesco’s store in March visited Thomas Eaton Primary School, in Wimblington, as part of its community volunteer initiative.

They helped staff paint the fences and the wooden equipment in the foundation years garden. They also helped create some floor-based games and painted some large tyres that will be used as roundabouts in a new play area based on a road network.

The remainder of the equipment was also given a clean and foliage was trimmed back ready for the new school year.

Sheree Jackson, the school’s playgroup leader, said: “I heard that Tesco ran a community volunteer programme and when I went into the store they said they would be delighted to help.”
