But this young visitor today was determined to be at the head of the queue – indeed he was able to leap frog to be first through the door.

The young fellah was waiting inside the door at Audmoor House, March, and anxious to see what we’d been writing these past few days.

We, of course, were happy to oblige.

He scanned a couple of inside pages, settled on page one, and seemed reluctant to leave.

However leave he did – once we showed him the garden he realised there was a whole new world out there with prospects too.

We did suggest he might care to spend the rest of the day with us but with little of interest on the lunch menu clearly felt prospects were better elsewhere.

It was mentioned the extent to which frogs had featured in literary history but when someone looked up relevant passages on the internet and found Mark Twain’s memorable quote first, he was off.

And what was it that Mr Twain said that might have upset him so easily?

“If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning,” wrote Mark Twain. “And if it’s your job to eat two frogs, it’s best to eat the biggest one first.”
