A picture book maker’s latest book has received Read it Again’s Cambridgeshire Children’s Picture Book of the year award.
Storyteller Jarvis’ book ‘Lazy Dave,’ which tells the tale of a dog who spends all day sleeping, was voted as the best by over 15,000 Cambridgeshire pupils, who read, discussed and then picked their favourite book.
Jarvis received his award from 2014 winner Elys Dolan at a ceremony at Crosshall Junior School in Eaton Socon on May 18.
Anne Worthington, community participation officer for Cambridgeshire County Council said, “Read it Again is a wonderfully inclusive activity which engages pupils of all ages from reception classes to Year 6, regardless of their reading ability.
“It encourages children to read and explore words and pictures and allows them to discover exciting new books. For the shortlisted authors, it provides wonderful exposure to their work and the opportunity to get feedback from their young readers.”
