THIS hospital bed was pushed for about three miles between two Fenland village pubs on Saturday and raised about £700 for future events to be held in Wimblington. A team of eight people, in fancy dress and mainly from Wimblington Sports and Social Committee, braved the cold snap and pushed the bed from the Anchor at Wimblington to the Three Tuns at Doddington and back. It was the first time the committee had organised an event of this kind, and it is hoped the bed-push will become an annual fund-raiser for the village.- The village gala will run from Friday, June 23 to Sunday, June 25. Tickets for the gala ball, on Friday, June 23, cost £35 and are now available from Lisa Fisher-Cole on 01354 742415.
