Thieves steal thousands of pounds worth of copper cable in Fenland

Thousands of pounds worth of copper cable was stolen in Fenland.

The two thefts in Block Fen, near Chatteris, happened between Monday and Wednesday.

One happened at Mepal Quarry where 10 metres of cable was taken from a substation. The other happened at Lafarge Aggregates where thieves cut through a barbed wire fence before stealing £10,000 worth of cable from the ground and a container.

Det Con Tade Toseland said: “I am appealing for anyone with information about these thefts, particularly anyone who was in the area at the time, to contact police.”
