The town’s ninth St George’s Fayre, celebrating England’s patron saint, will feature a bustling street market, fun fair, great food, fantastic live music and performances throughout the day.

The town centre will be pedestrianised, creating space for fun such as Morris dancers, a large craft market and an art exhibition.

The opening parade in celebration of St George will move from The Fountain, Broad Street and enter the Market Place in time for the official opening by the Mayor at 10.30am followed closely by the judging of the Fancy Dress Competition at 10.35am. Visitors to the Fayre looking for a fun packed day will not be disappointed. The following attractions have already been confirmed.

St George’s Fayre will be held on Sunday, April 23.

Zorbing

Zorbing has come to march, the popular attraction mainly saw falling down large hills and in lakes across the country will be in out by the library, the attraction which is normally seen in amusement parks makes this an event you can’t miss.

River trips

Hop on board the March Adventurer with Fox Narrowboat’s qualified skipper. Enjoy a half hour trip along the slow waters of the Nene departing from the town bridge every half hour, the first voyage sets sail at 10.30am.

Rockingham Rapper

Sword dancers Rockingham Rapper will be performing on the Main Stage at the Market Place and also a few impromptu performances throughout the day. They were formed in 2004 and have been wowing audiences and winning competitions ever since and are one of the only sword dance sides to incorporate Queen and Gilbert & Sullivan into their musical repertoire,

Stilt walkers

There will also be stilt walkers going around and entertaining everyone with their fantastic costumes and their impressive skills.
