The head girl at a Fenland college intends to conquer her fear of heights when she jumps out of a plane this summer in aid of a cancer charity.

Thomas Clarkson Academy head girl Lizzie Baker, of Murrow, will parachute out of a plane with her sister Heather to raise funds for CLIC Sargent, a charity which supports children with cancer and their families.

The sisters have already raised £1,219.36 thanks to the support of staff and students at the academy.

A non-uniform day brought in £792.06, while teachers and customers in the Jolly Fryer where Lizzie works have also sponsored her.

Lizzie said: “My grandma had cancer and she was a childminder. She always said she couldn’t imagine a child going through it so we started raising money for CLIC which helps children with cancer and their families.

“The support has been really good. I wasn’t expecting to raise so much so quickly. People have been so generous.”
