STUDENTS at the Thomas Clarkson Academy in Wisbech will help make Christmas special for local disadvantaged families, by donating food and toys as part of a festive Families in Need Appeal.

Contributions of tins and packets of food, chocolates, books and toys will be passed on to the The Salvation Army, along with the proceeds from a raffle and a cake stall.

Russell Day, Alison Day and Clare Kinsey from the Wisbech branch of the Salvation Army visited the Academy, to learn more about how the students had organised the appeal.

Mr Day said: “It’s really exciting that the students are so enthused about helping others.”

Head of the King Learning Community at the Academy, Sarah Loosemore, said: “The students have been very enthusiastic about the appeal and helping others.”
