Thousands of pounds has been raised for charity thanks to the regulars at a village pub.

Customers at the Bell Inn at Murrow presented £4,500 to charity following three events in the run up to Christmas.

Landlord Andy Kedzior said: “Words can not express the gratitude myself & Dawn have to all our customers that have helped to raise £4,500 for testicular & prostate cancer for the Institute of Cancer Research.

“This great sum was raised in just 81 days, starting with our harvest festival auction then with our charity calendars and ending it with our Christmas raffle.”

The sum was also given a single cash boost of £500 from one of the pub customers.

“Our thanks goes to every one of you that helped in many ways not only spending your money, but donating items for these events, Mr Kedzior said.

Thanks were also sent to March-based 3B Design & Print for the big discount they gave towards the printing of the calendars - 185 in total which all sold.

“The Bell Inn is a small pub with a very big heart, thanks to all my very loyal customers,” Mr Kedzior said.

The couple have owned the pub for four and a half years and since then have given £12,700 to various charities.

The next big event is a 10-mile charity bike ride around the village on Easter Sunday.
