Three former members of 1220 (March) Squadron air cadets have joined HM Forces.

Joe Williams, John Cornell and Alex Ogden have each passed their initial training and are now embarking on the next stages of their careers.

Joe Williams has joined the Royal Air Force and completed his basic training course at RAF Halton. He was selected as best recruit on his intake and was presented with his award during his passing out parade. He is now in training to become an aircraft mechanic at RAF Cosford.

After completing his university studies and taking some time out to travel John Cornell applied to join the army as an officer. He recently graduated from Sandhurst and has begun serving with the Royal Logistic Corps.

Alex Ogden is on his way to making his lifelong dream a reality. He graduated from RAF Cranwell as an officer in the Royal Air Force at the end of May and now moves on to phase two training to become a pilot.

Flight Lieutenant Kirsty Burnham, the squadron commander at 1220 for all three, said: “It’s great news to hear that the three have pursued a career with HM Forces.

“It gives me an enormous sense of pride to know that the air cadet organisation has played a part in helping them achieve their goals.”
