CONGRATULATIONS to Councillor Mac Cotterell for being awarded the MBE for his sterling services to the community.
Cllr Cotterell has worked tirelessly on behalf of the elderly population of Fenland, setting up the Golden Age Fair concept. It has proved such a success in Fenland that it is now attracting attention among other local authorities in London.
Cllr Cotterell, ward councillor for Elm and Christchurch, has played a leading role in the community - as the leader of Fenland District Council for 11 years from 1990 to 2001.
Tim Pilsbury, council chief executive, said: "We are all delighted that Mac's hard work has been recognised beyond the boundaries of Fenland. He has been a tireless campaigner for local people, particularly the elderly and isolated.
