Road users in Cambridgeshire and the rest of East Anglia have been warned tonight of strong winds across the region on Easter Monday.
A Highways England spokesman said tonight that drivers are advised to check the weather forecast and road conditions before they travel tomorrow (early hours and morning of Easter Monday) as strong winds are forecast.
“ As a result of these strong winds, Highways England has issued a severe weather alert for high-sided vehicles, caravans, motorbikes and other vulnerable vehicles, which are advised to take extra care when travelling due to the increased risk of vehicles being blown over,” said the spokesman.
Highways England, which is responsible for the motorways and other major roads in England, is working closely with the Met Office to monitor the weather conditions, maintain safe roads and ensure reliable journeys.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead for their journey before they set out, checking the forecast, road conditions and to leave extra time if travel conditions are poor or to delay their journey if the weather becomes increasingly severe.
