Hundreds of train enthusiasts were left disappointed after the iconic Flying Scotsman broke down on its way to Ely yesterday – but none more so than this man.

The man, known as Starbug Productions, took to Youtube to express his anger following yesterday’s news.

He opened the short video by sharing he had some “very bad news,” before going on to say how “gutted” and “ticked off” he was that the world-famous steam locomotive would not be passing through the Fens.

Starbug, who has over 7,000 subscribers to his train-themed Youtube channel, went on to apologise for letting his viewers down for failing to capture any footage of the Flying Scotsman and said how he hopes it will return to the region next year.

Fans of the Scotsman gathered on rail platforms throughout Fenland to watch it pass through the county but were left disappointed after it broke down in Peterborough because of a fault with the hot axle box on the right-hand driving wheel.

It will now stay at Nene Valley Railway in Wansford for maintenance for the next few days and can be viewed in the railway’s yard.

Platform tickets will be available for purchase from the booking office at Wansford.
