A family wants to convert a patch of overgrown agricultural land near King’s Dyke into pitches.

The Price family, who are members of the travelling community, have applied to Fenland District Council to turn the 1,320 sq metres site at Crease Drove to the west of Whittlesey into three pitches, each of which would have a touring caravan and two car parking spaces.

Some members of the family live on the next door industrial site, while others live at the Oxney Road travellers site.

Their application said: “The scale of the development is small and will have little impact on the surrounding area.

“The surrounding agricultural land use would ensure the residents of the site would have an adequate level of amenity, sunlight and daylight.”
