Tree roots were to blame for flooding in Fisherman's Drive, March, a Cambridgeshire County Council investigation has found.

A spokesman for CCC said: “When we’ve received concerns from local residents we have always sent someone out to look into it further.

“In most cases the problems have been fixed swiftly, for example removing leaves or tree roots blocking the drainage systems.

“Investigations previously discovered no fault within the drainage system other than general maintenance issues.

“To reassure residents that we take their concerns seriously we have ordered some further work of the wider area, to the rear end of Fisherman’s Drive leading to West End.

“These works will be complete within the next two weeks and we will feedback to the local community.”

At the time, one resident who has lived there for 45 years, said: “It’s always flooded.

“The lady next door can’t even get out of her house when it’s like this. “And we can’t get into our own car sometimes without wearing wellingtons.
