WHITTLESEY'S 15th annual show in 1967 proved a huge hit, with 6,000 people watching some first class entertainment.
There was a new showground, lots of sunshine and Whittlesey Agricultural Society was in such a good financial position it could carry three successive wet shows.
During the show, Whittlesey Urban District Council's Citizenship Award was presented to the St John Ambulance Brigade. As the real trophy was still at the silversmith's, a replica had to be presented to Mr W Wildbore, superintendent of the Whittlesey Brigade.
On the day of the presentation, members of the brigade treated nine minor incidents - nosebleeds, a headache and a broken thumbnail. A person suffering from an epileptic fit had to be taken home by ambulance.
