TWO men from Essex have been charged with illegal fishing offences in Fen waters including the use of live fish for bait.
Costel Stratult and Dragos Nechita from Ilford are due before magistrates in Cambridge on August 23 to face two charges.
They are charged with fishing for freshwater fish during the close season on April 7 at the River Great Ouse north of Queen Adelaide, Ely.
The second charge is that on the same date “you used live fish for bait at the River Great Ouse north of Queen Adelaide not being the water from which they were taken”.
It is not illegal to use live fish as bait- only illegal to use live fish not caught in the same river.
