THE future may be uncertain but it was the present that Royal British Legion members decided was important on Saturday.

The West End club threw open its doors for a fun day with the twin aims of enjoying the last of the summer sun but also to raise funds.

Club members have all received a ‘summons’ to a special meeting at March Town Hall on September 26 to report on feedback from a recent questionnaire. That survey invited members to reflect on a future strategy for the club which is facing a cash crisis and could be closed.

However for the club’s fun day traditional pastimes such as Splat the Rat combined with face painting and a bouncy castle. Middle Level Watermen’s Club helped with some of the organisation.

Now all eyes will focus on the special general meeting where seven options for the future will be determined by the club’s 350 members.
