Water supplies are to be cut off overnight in parts of March while engineers tackle a major leak.
Water supplies returned to normal today after Anglian Water worked into the night tackling and fixing a massive water leak under March town bridge.
The burst main, on the 165-year-old town bridge at the end of Broad Street, was reported on Monday. Tonnes of water cascaded from beneath it at the time, however what caused the outage is unknown.
The Mayor of March, Councillor Rob Skoulding, said: “Anglian Water was hard at work on Monday night and has done a brilliant job.
“Broad Street is back open now and ready for business.”
An Anglia Water spokesman said at the time of the original report: “We are really sorry for the inconvenience caused and we hope to complete this essential repair as quickly as possible.”
The single arch bridge over the River Nene has a rarely observed weight limit.
An Anglian Water spokesman said two way traffic lights had been to be put in place to repair the burst main safely.
The spokesman said some properties locally would have been affected by these were contacted ahead of the closure.
