A man left fighting for his life after a crash in Suffolk has died, police have said.

Luke O’Sullivan, 24, from Fordham, died in hospital on Friday after a collision in Exning in the early hours on April 19, a Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said.

Emergency services were called to Cemetery Hill in the village at 4.35am after a silver Peugeot 206 collided with a lamppost.

The 24-year-old driver suffered serious head and neck injuries and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

He died from his injuries six days later on April 25.

Further details of the driver have not been released but it is understood his next-of-kin have been informed.

It is understood he was thrown from the vehicle by the impact of the incident.

The road was closed for about six hours while police carried out investigations in to the collision.

Witnesses of the crash are urged to call police on 101.

Police are continuing to investigate the collision and are asking anyone who saw the vehicle prior to or at the time of the crash to call PC Dean Webb at the serious collision investigation team on 101.
