A WOMAN who was involved in a serious collision on a busy road between Ely and Little Downham has died.
The incident took place at about 11.55am on the B1411 Downham Road and involved a Volkswagen Polo and a Citreon Picasso.
The air ambulance was called to the scene but the driver of the VW, a woman in her 30s, died as a result of her injuries. A young child who was travelling with her at the time of the incident suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the Citreon, a woman, and her two passengers, both children, also suffered minor injuries.
Downham Road remains closed and motorists are being urged to avoid the area. Anyone who witnessed the collision is advised to contact the roads policing unit on 101.
