Annie Larkin, 23, of High Road, Gorefield, is one of 15 people who have been accepted to the Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts, which is the only school to be officially associated with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

She will begin a nine month Drama Foundation course, which she hopes will give her the intensive training required to establish herself in the industry, in September.

The former Wisbech Grammar School and College of West Anglia Isle campus student began acting aged three and has appeared in several professional productions including summer and winter shows at the Princess Theatre in Hunstanton.

She appears in a short film called Welcome to the Luxe, which is shown before every film at the Luxe Cinema, and in the Fraser Dawbarns advert.

She said: “I was quite impressed and shocked at the same time when I found out I was accepted on to the course. It is both exciting and scary.

“It is my ultimate dream and goal to be an actor, aiming mainly for roles in film and television, and this course will help me achieve my goals by giving me very intensive training.”

Miss Larkin has done productions with Wisbech Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (WAODS), March and District Operatic Society (MADAOS) and the Angles Theatre.

The aspiring actress, who also works as a barmaid and has founded her own face painting and animal portrait business, ranks among her favourite actors and actresses Michael Sheen, Benedict Cumberbatch, Judi Dench and Julie Walters.

The £16,000 course is not government funded so Ms Larkin would be grateful for sponsorship. She has already received £100 from WAODS.
