Young people can burn off some energy on their birthday with a party at the Fenland Gymnastics Academy.
The Academy, run by fully trained coaches, runs parties as a fun venue for kids and to help bring in funds for new equipment for the Wisbech venue.
The club had its beginnings at West Walton Primary School where members were recreational gymnasts with only school mats, benches and trestle tables for apparatus.
Founded by Kirstie Harrison and her husband Harry, the club became an instant success.
They expanded by moving first to the Queens School then Marshland High School and eventually to its permanent present premises in Algores Way.
The coaching team expanded to meet increased demand and has a thriving leadership academy of senior gymnasts who help in coaching, judging and organizing events.
These gymnasts have competed at County, Regional and National levels and the younger less experienced gymnasts really benefit from learning from the best.
The club, which has charitable status, pours all money raised back into the club to replace and update items.
Kirstie said: “It is a relatively small club which enables it to have a family atmosphere, where everybody knows everybody else. Success is celebrated at all levels.
“We firmly believe that gymnastics has something to offer the whole community; from parents and babies through to toddlers, school aged children, teenagers and adults.”
