Heavy overnight rain posed a threat to motorists using one of the key link roads across the Fens.
At lunchtime today the A1101 Wash Road through Welney on the Norfolk/Cambridgeshire border was just passable.
Motorists were being warned to take extra care as the road – in both directions between the B1100 New Road and Bell’s Drove on the A1101- was affected.
Earlier tonight the BBC reported that “the road is just passable on A1101 Wash Road in both directions between Welney and the Bell’s Drove junction, because of flooding.”
