A MINI crime wave has rocked the small village of Christchurch (population 400) with police being asked to investigate a series of incidents in recent weeks.

In the first, two weeks ago, offenders broke the padlock of the Primary School swimming pool in Crown Road to gain access. Next came the theft of a metal plate to secure a stop cock on Green Drove, while in Upwell Road the bowling green was vandalised.

In Crown Avenue offenders have climbed over a small offences a removed a set of five wheels, and nearby a resident in Crown Road went outside after hearing a noise to discover two coping stones had been removed from the wall at the end of his front garden. Also in Crown Road, a CCTV was damaged when the bracket fixing it was pulled off.

It brings to 24 the total number of reported crimes in the village since January 1.
