ON May 5 there will be an opportunity to vote for your local council both at district level and at town.

The district is made up of four towns namely March, Chatteris, Wisbech and Whittlesey covering 40 seats. For those who don’t know the ruling party on the council is Conservative and has been for a long time. The saddest fact of all is that last time there was an election 22 of the 40 seats were uncontested meaning that the ruling party (Conservative) were automatically re elected before a vote was cast in May 2007.

This time that is not going to be the case and at least 3/4 of the seats will be contested. So there is no excuse. Please, please go out and vote on May 5 to exercise democracy!
