A crew from Chatteris was called to a rubbish fire on farmland off Fenton Way, Chatteris this morning
A large bonfire had been left unattended and started to spread. Firefighters, who were called at around 7.10am, dampened down the fire, which was in close proximity to derelict outbuildings, and have allowed it to burn out.
Crews returned to their stations by 8.25am.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
A CFRS spokesman said: “Bonfires should never be left unattended. We would always ask residents and businesses to consider other ways of disposing of their rubbish, like using a waste and recycling centre, rather than building a bonfire - especially when it is as windy as it is today.”
