A former Neale Wade student has been made a professor at the School of Biosciences at Birmingham University.
Warwick (Rick) Dunn oversees a range of research including complications of reproduction and pregnancy, diseases, immunology, ageing, inflammation and muscular skeletal health.
He is a professor of analytical and clinical metabolomics and a director of the Birmingham Metabolomics Training Centre as well as director of the Mass Spectrometry, Phenome Centre in Birmingham.
Rick, 46, whose parents Malcolm and Pam still live in Burrowmoor Road, March, went to Cavalry School then Burrowmoor, before studying at Neale Wade Academy.
He completed his BSc studies at the University of Hull and subsequently PhD studies at BP Chemicals and The University of Hull.
From 1997 he was employed in industry with Croda Chemicals and in academia with IACR-Rothamsted, University of Sheffield, where he has developed and applied analytical techniques to the study of chemical and biological systems.
From 2001 Professor Dunn focused his research on the development and application of metabolomic techniques, firstly at The University of Sheffield to study plant metabolism and subsequently at The University of Manchester (where he focused on the study of microbial and mammalian systems.
