DOWNHAM MARKET’s fourth annual water festival is being held next to the Hythe Bridge on Sunday August 8.

The main feature of the festival, a knockout dragon boat racing competion, will begin at 10am. Junior teams (12-16 years) will compete for their own trophy at the event. Entry is free for all competitors and spectators.

Kerry Heffernan of Downham Market Town Council said: “Four boats in each race will make for some really exciting racing. It’ll be great to watch.”

Other attractions at the family festival include stalls, a roundabout, trampoline bouncing, food outlets and a funfair.

Howard Phillips, Chairman of the Working Party, said: “We are all volunteers and throughly enjoy organising this special day every year.

“I’d like to thank Downham Market Town Council for their backing without which we could not hold this event. Special thanks must also go to Archant and the Borough of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Council for their generous sponsorship.”

Programmes for the event are available from Lewks in Wales Court, Downham Market.
