Forecasts predict break in snowfall but Fenland cold snap looks set to continue

SNOW may have stopped falling for now in Fenland but the freezing temperatures look set to continue for some time.

Forecasts predict that the cold snap will last all week, with temperatures struggling to get above zero. But it is thought that snow showers will halt at least temporarily, with only brief periods of sleet expected in Fenland.

While its an inconvenience for many, the weather has allowed some ice skaters to take to the fens - with limited skating taking place on patches of ice at Welney.

People are being warned to take care if they do skate. Skaters should try to get permission from the landowner, stay away from ditches and deep water and, if possible, go with at least one other person.
