TORRENTIAL rain is continuing to wreck havoc in Cambridgeshire with flooding reported across the county.
A woman had to be rescued by firefighters on the B1040 Thorney to Whittlesey Road this morning as drivers continued to ignore road closed signs on the road.
Sutton Gault road and Earith Road are also both currently closed due to flooding.
The Environment Agency has released a Flood warning for the North Bank Road alongside the River Nene to the east of Peterborough and the west of the Dog-in-a-Doublet Sluice.
A Flood alert is in place at the Ouse Washes, including the causeways at Earith, Sutton Gault and Welney.
Water levels are still high in the River Nene between Wansford and the Dog-in-a-Doublet Sluice to the east of Peterborough with the flooding of low-lying land and roads expected.
Cambridge Fire and Rescue Service has pleaded with motorists to respect road closures.
Alan Brown, Group Commander at Cambridge Fire and Rescue Sevice, said: “Ignoring road closures by driving through flood water is very dangerous as it is impossible to know how deep the water is and whether there are any hazards under the water that could leave you stranded.”
