POLICE today sent out what they described as a “strong message” to motorists not to film road traffic collisions in the wintry conditions.

“Police and emergency services colleagues are aware that drivers are filming crashes in this morning’s snow on their mobile phones,” said a spokesman for Norfolk Police.

Harry Mitchell, head of news at Norfolk Police, said: “Filming road traffic incidents is extremely dangerous for both drivers and our officers and staff who are attending people in need.

“In these difficult driving conditions it is more important than ever that drivers stay in full control of their vehicles.

“Filming these incidents means drivers are distracted from watching the car in front and they could cause their own crash.”
