HURRICANE Wilma destroyed the dream wedding of Jo Nicholas to Craig Shorten in October, and on Friday heavy snow almost did the same to their rearranged wedding in Norfolk.

But after a day of near disasters, Jo was delighted as she and Craig finally tied the knot.

"In the end it turned out to be a fantastic day," said Jo, whose parents live in March. "It was a pity about the weather but everything worked out really well. I'd just like to thank everyone who made it all possible."

The couple, both paramedics with the East Anglian Ambulance Service, were offered the help of March businesswoman Jo Polley of Finishing Touch to co-ordinate their wedding after they were forced to return from Mexico unmarried.

The marriage was re-arranged to take place at Sprowston Manor, Norwich, at 1pm. However, because of heavy snow the registrar, along with many of the guests, had difficulty reaching the venue and with the bride ready and waiting in the bridal suite, the ceremony was delayed for almost two hours.

Photographer Tim Nightingale of Create and of Art of Colour of March, and his partner Adam Merton of Benwick were involved in a car accident on the way to the wedding. Adam sustained a knee injury and the car had to be towed away by the RAC.

Help was at hand when one of the guests contacted a friend who was at the time out taking pictures of birds in the snow and he stepped in to record the event.

Support for the couple also came from:

* Boon and Potter of March which supplied the wedding attire hire

* Finishing Touch which decorated the venue and provided the stationery

* Art of Colour which donated stationery materials

* Margaret Baines who made the dresses and shrugs for the bridesmaids

* Peterborough paramedics who donated the wedding cake.
