Young people were given a taste of the world of work in a careers convention day at Neale Wade Academy in March.

Around 500 pupils in Year 6 and 7 enjoyed the event from schools in March and the surrounding villages.

Alison Chandler, of the organisers, said: “The purpose of the event was to open children’s eyes to the wide variety of careers available and inspire them to work hard through secondary school.”

At the day were children and teachers from All Saints, Burrowmoor, Cavalry, Guyhirn, Townley, Westwood primary schools and Neale-Wade Academy.

The event was organised by the March cluster of schools.

Holding a stall at teh day to talk about their jobs were Whiting and Partners Accountants, Ambulance service, Cambridgeshire Outdoors, College of West Anglia, a dentist, doctor, early years teaching, Foster Property Maintenance, hairdresser Sarah Richmond, Huntingdon Regional College,

Intensive Care nurse Kerry Pooley and librarian Louise Aldridge.

Other were staff from M and Co in March, Muddy Paws, Acorn Lodge, Eye, Nene Park Trust, photographer Ryan Jarvis, Sainsburys, Smurfit Kappa, New Vision Fitness, The RAF, The Royal Navy, Fire and Rescue Service.

Alison said: “Thanks go to all the stall holders who gave their time and expertise for free.”
