THE group's latest meeting opened with a minute's silence for Betty Perrott who had died in Thorpe Hall.

Guest speaker was Patrick Quinn, from the world of greyhound racing, who began his life around the Belfast snooker halls where some years ago a12 year old boy beat him. That boy was Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins, later to become world snooker champion. He moved to England where he and his partner Pam Heathmans trained greyhounds and became friends with formeer England goalkeeper David Seaman. They now live in Christchurch, where they continue to breed and train greyhounds.

At the annual meeting, which followed, the chairman presented his annual report and all officers were re-elected unopposed.

It was unanimously agreed that the wording of the constitution be changed, and to contain the words 'for people of any nationality or religious beliefs who suffer with worrying illnesses'.
