WHAT will t hose meddling bureaucrats get up to next? They now insist that veterans involved in Armistice Day parades and other parades have adequate insurance lest they slip, fall or maybe trip over a standard.
The country descends into idiocy by the hour.
We were born to take risks. This is a part of life's deal. It is up to individuals to take care of themselves in the normality of things, and if an accident happens, then it happens. How insurance-brokers must salivate at the thought of the nation being turned into wimps.
Since Waterloo our anniversary parades emblazoned the tradition of a once great country now in the process of being ruined by little Hitlers and jobsworths who will soon have us all walking around in nappies and sucking dummies.
It could be that some idiot ensconced in a plush office in Brussels could get to me for mentioning the famous English victory on Belgian soil. Ah, well, I've said it now.
If these people would care to cast eyes on the local scene, how about these for starters.
Come down hard on cyclists who jockey along pavements designed for pedestrians.
How refreshing it would be if the police would take basics into consideration - enforce the law on our streets for a change and get to grips with the town's window smashers and drug takers. Let's have beat bobbies again.
Police on the streets is far cheaper than bringing in a helicopter, often a futile exercise. Can nothing be done efficiently in this beleaguered land of ours, or perhaps I should say "theirs" with Brussels in mind.
Our discredited government, having disregarded umpteen promises, aligning its policies with farcical political correctness, drowning in deceit, suffocating in sleaze, instigator of inane and wasteful notions, is at last doing something remarkably well - disembowelling itself.
