FENLAND and District Coeliac Support Group, part of Coeliac UK, will be busy from next Saturday, starting with its annual meeting at our Lady and St Charles Roman Catholic Church Hall, Wisbech (1.30-2pm) with the main meeting at 2.15pm.
Cookery demonstrations will be provided by committee members.
National Coeliac Awareness Week is from May 15 to 21. Boots the Chemist, in Broad Street, March, will be promoting its 'free from' range and a Coeliac Support Group committee member will be available to answer questions.
The committee will be at the Serpentine Green Shopping Mall at Hampton, Peterborough, on Wednesday, May 17 (10.30am-3.30pm).
Rebecca Rayner, from King's Ripton Farms, producer of gluten-free flour, will be joining the committee on their stall between Tesco and Sports World.
The group will stage its third gluten free fair at the Rowley Mile Racecourse, Newmarket, on Saturday, July 8.
On Saturday, October 21, it will hold its food fair at the National Centre for Deafblindness at Hampton, Peterborough.
- Coeliac disease is an inflammatory condition of gastrointestinal tract caused by gluten damaging the intestine lining and reducing the gut's ability to absorb nutrients from food. One in 100 of use have Coeliac disease but four out of five do not know they have it.
If left untreated it can lead to osteoporosis or bowel cancer.
