When B1040 Whittlesey Wash road is closed, are economic consequences considered?
I ASSUME those responsible for the decision when to close the Whittlesey to Dog in a Doublet road consider the massive economic consequences of their action?
Not only the cost to commuters and their employers, but also the cost of delays to lorries on the A605 serving companies.
During walks across the wash I have noted the following:
• December 19 - road clear of water and debris, but closed.
• December 22 - a few inches of water at the lowest area - easily passable, but road closed.
You may also want to watch:
• December 23 - still passable, but additions had been made to the road closed barriers.
• January 28 - a few inches of water on the road, but open with warning signs. Right decision.

• February 3 - road flooded and closed. Right decision.
• February 6 - road clear of water and debris, but closed. Why?
• February 7 - 9.30am closed. I understand it opened later in the morning. Too late for the morning rush on the A605. Why? If there were good reasons then those responsible should tell us what they were.
• February 10 - road open, but road closed signs were still there. Why?
