THE new owner of one of Fenland's oldest hotels hopes it will become a live music venue "when the time is right."

Martin Ellis, who was involved in the music business many years ago, has taken over March's Griffin Hotel, having previously run three pubs in Oxfordshire. He decided to make the move to the Fens about six months ago.

He said: "I liked the atmosphere about the Griffin when I was looking around. It just felt right. I'm going to concentrate on the function rooms and perhaps look into revamping the club. But anything we do, will be in keeping to the character of the place.
