VISITORS got to try their hand at one of the country’s most popular sports as Whittlesey Bowls Club held an open day on Saturday.

The club’s president bowled the first bowl of the season and people chatted away merrily clutching cups of tea.

The club has 35 playing members, 20 social members and plays friendlies, as well as fielding teams in the midweek, weekend and 60-plus leagues.
