A WHITTLESEY college is reaching out to former students, who they hope will inspire the present generation.

Sir Harry Smith Community College, Whittlesey, has registered with Future First, an education charity, to trace alumni who can act as mentors and provide work experience opportunities for students.

They are also looking for people to support the college as volunteer donors, governors and fundraisers.

Jonathan Digby, college principal, said, “We signed up to Future First’s scheme as we want to use the fantastic resources of our former students to help us raise the aspiration of the next generation of College leavers.

“At present, unlike the public schools, we do not have a vast data base of former students or “Old Boys” to turn to when a student needs work experience, guidance about a particular type of industry or links into a specific career but we are keen to use the resources and expertise of our successful former students to support those at College now to realise their ambitions.”
