A new showroom and national training centre has been opened in Whittlesey to meet the growing demands of customers along the A1 corridor.
Hugh Crane (Cleaning Equipment) Ltd held an open day at their refurbished site at Station Road to showcase its multi million pound investment.
The centre was officially opened by Steve Barclay MP for North East Cambs and the ribbon was cut by Councillor Alex Miscandlon.
Jim Saunders, branch manager, said: “We have been operating from the site since October 2001 and when the option of acquiring the site next door became available in 2014 we decided that strategically it was the right time to expand.
“Over the last few years we have seen a large increase in companies investing in the area to make the most of the excellent transport links. “The central location and the demand for warehousing has seen an increase in the demand for state of the art cleaning equipment.
“Clearly our previous facilities didn’t allow us to cope with this demand so the investment was essential for the long term growth of the business.”
He said that they now had one of the largest cleaning equipment showrooms in East Anglia along with a dedicated national training centre. “Customers can now visit the site and demo the equipment before purchasing which we see as a major advantage,” he said.
Hugh Crane supplies a large range of cleaning equipment, chemicals and supplies as well as having their own range of specialist manufacturing facility.
Major suppliers held demonstrations during the day on a range of specialist equipment giving clients the opportunity to view the latest developments.
The event included a hog roast and beers on tap from Nene Valley Brewery.
Suppliers gave prizes for a raffle where money was raised for Sue Ryder at Thorpe Hall in Peterborough.
Manufacturers demonstrating included Commando Pressure Washers, MAC International, Kranzle, Karcher, Nilfisk Alto, Numatic P Wave IVO, Meguiars, IPC Gansow and G&S Services from Penrith.
Clover Chemicals ran two sessions on cleaning. Prochem hosted a session on stain removal and Hugh Cranes engineering department demonstrated their Caskforce Brewery range along with hygiene systems specific for the food services industry.
