A Fenland firm’s customer service questionnaire raised £900 for charity.

Every time a Smurfit Kappa customer filled in a survey, the Whittlesey firm donated £10 to Parkinson’s UK.

Ninety were filled in, so the charity has received a big boost.

Smurfit general manager David Upton said: “Parkinson’s disease is a highly emotive illness; it is indiscriminate in whom it affects and has far-reaching consequences for both the sufferer; their families and those around them.

“This degenerative disease can touch all of us in one way or another. The incentive to fill out the survey was an excellent tool in aiding our customers, staff and suppliers to support those around us in dealing with the consequences of this debilitating disease.”

Michelle Pullen, Parkinson’s UK Eastern England regional fundraiser, said: “We would like to thank everyone at Smurfit Kappa for their valuable support and for this wonderful donation that will help make a real difference.

“Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson’s; it affects 127,000 in the UK and one in 20 diagnosed are under the age of 40.

“Parkinson’s UK aims to ensure that no one faces this disease alone.”
