A Whittlesey charity shop manager took on the strenuous task of walking 100 kilometres (62 miles) in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice (EACH) and raised a total of £900.

Lorna Hazeltine, who runs the EACH shop in Whittlesey and has been with the charity for six-and-a-half years, and keeps the Market Street shop in top order.

Lorna said: “It was super tough – walking continuously for 62 miles takes some doing, but I’m stubborn so it wasn’t going to beat me.

“When my feet and legs became painful I was spurred on by the thought of the families EACH supports and what it provides for them.”

EACH support families and care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.

Lorna walked upstream from Putney Bridge in London, past Hampton Court, to Runnymede, and then all the way to Henley.

Incredibly, this isn’t the first time Lorna has taken on this mission, back in 2015 she raised over £820 for the charity – a step in the right direction to make sure EACH has enough to help sustain its vital service
