Women's InstitutePRESIDENT Mimi Bashford welcomed members and two visitors to the March meeting at which details of several forthcoming events were read out and discussed, including next month's group meeting at March.It was announced Margaret Pickering will oversee the institute's group entry for the East of England Show in June.The June outing was discussed and the secretary will ask about a visit to the Key Theatre.Speaker was Gil Boyd, whose topic was the Pidley Mountain Rescue Team. He gave an insight into the fund-raising work the team does throughout each year. All money raised goes to specific local charities. Mr Boyd was thanked by Ruby Hurst. The competition for the prettiest scarf was judged by the two visitors. The raffle was won by Margaret Pickering and Doris Band.At the next meeting, on Tuesday, April 4, in St Andrew's Hall (7.30pm), the speaker will be John Green, whose subject will be fuchsias.
