Whittlesey residents urged to support speeding crackdown

PUBLISHED: 09:53 01 July 2011

RESIDENTS are being urged to sign up to a community scheme to crack down on speeding in Whittlesey.

Police are encouraging people to join the Community Speedwatch initiative - where officers provide equipment including high-visibility tabards and a speed monitoring device.

Any motorist caught speeding will receive a letter giving them relevant guidance and advice.

PCSO Melanie Bull said: “Community Speedwatch puts the public at the centre of enforcement.

“It allows residents to see the problems as they exist and the methods police can use to combat them.”

A meeting will take place with those interested in joining the scheme on Sunday, July 10 at midday.

Anyone interested in joining the session should get in touch with PCSO Bull at Whittlesey Police Station on 0345 456 456 4.
