A Whittlesey teenager won a talent competition with a contemporary dance routine.

Hollie Grant won the Young Cambridgeshire’s Got Talent competition after beating what judges said was an extremely high standard of entries.

The finals took place at March Town Hall with young people competing for a top prize of £100.

Hollie, 14, said: “I never expected to win as there was so many talented acts. It was such a shock! It has boosted my confidence and I’m so glad that the judges enjoyed it as much as I did.

“Dance is my life and I want to dance professionally when I leave school. My biggest dream is to go to America to study dance and perform.”

Second place was awarded to Lucey Humphries, 19, a pianist and singer/songwriter from Huntingdon who stunned the judges and the audience with an original song she composed herself.

Third place was given to Sarah’s Street Dance group, Xzibit. Sarah’s Street Dance is now into its sixth year, competing and performing locally and nationally.

Young Cambridgeshire’s Got Talent has been funded by Cambridgeshire County Council and has provided young people opportunities to showcase their talents for over five years.

Katherine Nightingale, Managing Director for 20Twenty Productions said: “We are so proud to be part of this event and once again have been overwhelmed by the standard of the performers we have seen.”
