Youngsters in Whittlesey are celebrating after successfully exploring the literary world and completing this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.
The national challenge invited four to 11-year-olds to borrow and read any six library books over the summer.
This year’s instalment was supported by Whittlesey Town Council and district library assistant, Hayley Wynn.
She said: “We have had another successful year and we saw an increase in the number of children completing the challenge of 30 per cent.
“I’d like to give special thanks to all the volunteer helpers who also supported us this year.”
Hayley welcomed NE Cambs MP Steve Barclay and deputy Mayor of Whittlesey, Councillor Julie Windle, to the library recently to hand the youngster certificates to mark their achievements.
The Summer Reading Challenge gets over 750,000 children into libraries and is organised every year by the Read Agency.
