WIMBLINGTON Twinning held an afternoon event to inform the local community on the progress made in their twinning programme.

A visit had been made to Poland by two of the committee to establish the link between the village school and a school in Wierzbie on the Kutno Plain.

"The enthusiasm of the Polish children was there in abundance to correspond by letter and wish to visit Wimblington in July," said Susie Spurr, one of the organisers.

"The Polish people were so welcoming, showing us the area in which they live."

She said the Italians sent over three representatives to inform Wimblington about Morazzone, their twin village in Italy.

"They invited two of our committee to attend a meeting in their village on April 21/22 to explain Wimblington to their residents and expressed their wish to complete the triangle by also twinning with Wierzbie in Poland," said Mrs Spurr.

"Our way forward now will be to expand on both friendships through our schools and make visits available to our children to widen there knowledge on different places and cultures.
