The Living Sport annual awards celebrated amazing sporting achievements within our local community.
Finalists and winners were treated to an evening of celebration at Burgess Hall in St. Ives.
Coach of the Year (Anglia Ruskin University) - Andy Matson
Andy Matson is an inspirational multisport coach and a positive role model to others.
He gives up his own personal time to support team members; and his openness and courage when discussing his own mental health, and the positive impact of sport on it, has encouraged and supported others to take part.
Community Club of the Year (Lifeplus) - Joint Winners - Three Counties Running Club and Wisbech Inline Speed Skating Club.
With nothing to choose between them, they showcase what Fenland has to offer in two very different sports. TCRC has grown from strength to strength and welcomes people of all abilities and ages to participate in running for health and fitness and well being.
WISS have had an incredible competition season including four overall British champions for 2019.
Community Volunteer of the Year (Enjoy the View) - Jonathan Evans
In his spare time, Jonathan has volunteered as the director of Ely Outdoor Sports Association (EOSA) for the last 18 months.
Under his guidance, the clubhouse is thriving - he has an ability to bring the right people together to make a difference.
For the first time in its history the clubhouse will be self-financing.
Jonnie Peacock Award (Irwin Mitchell) - Gabriella Wells
The award is presented to someone who has shown great personal endeavour to overcome adversity and has achieved something above and beyond to make a difference. Gaby has done just that.
Even while suffering from a debilitating condition HEDS (Hypermobility Ehlers Danlos Syndrome), she has secured a place in the U19's county netball academy and when her medical condition leaves her in incredible pain, she still offers guidance, support and positive words from the sidelines.
Impact Award (3B Design & Print) - Danielle Guy, Friends of Histon & Impington Recreation, Jenny Parker
Danielle's passion is in running and through her Let's Run Girls empire she empowers women to give it a go, being a run leader and mentor herself.
Jenny became a Breeze champion for British Cycling and formed local group 'Sassy Ladies'. This provided a new pathway into sport for women, addressing the need for fun and sociable cycling.
Friends of Histon and Impington Rec have so much to offer. Formed 16 years ago, it has grown from strength to strength.
Matthew Warn Power of Sport - John Wroe
As co-founder and CEO of Street Child United, John was, amongst other things, responsible for the inaugural Street Child Cricket World Cup tournament on Parker's Piece in Cambridge (with the final being held at Lord's). Children saved from streets around the world made their voices heard both on and off the pitch to help improve the lives of street children worldwide.
School of the Year (Baldwins) - Ditton Lodge Primary School
They have given students a wide range of PE and extra-curricular opportunities and enabled them to make considerable improvements in sport. They recognise it as a valuable contribution towards whole school learning.
Services to Sport - Colin Bedford (Badminton)
Colin has been coaching badminton in March for over 50 years. A previous county player himself, now 83 years old, he is driven to help everyone reach their potential. Colin has been recognised by Badminton England as the oldest qualified badminton coach that is still coaching in the whole of England.
Sports Performance of the Year (Freedom Leisure) - Lucy Warne
Lucy is an intellectually disabled equestrian athlete who has had a successful year, competing in her first international competition.
Representing the Special Olympics Great Britain Equestrian Team, Lucy won two golds and a silver medal at the World Summer Games, on a horse that she had only met one hour previously; a remarkable achievement.
Workplace of the Year (Everyone Health) - Wellcome Sanger Institute
They promote a culture of positive health and wellbeing that embraces physical and mental health to encourage healthier lives, and are committed to reducing work-related stress.
Young Community Volunteer of the Year (Nene Park Trust) - Lily Callaghan
Lily volunteers in the community and within school as well as at Cambridge United Football Club.
Youth Sports Performance of the Year (Chromasport) - Samuel Missin
Samuel from Whittlesey has had an extremely successful year playing Touch Rugby for England. He scored eight tries at the World Cup earlier this year in Malaysia.
